What is Hydrated Lime?
Hydrated Lime, chemically known as Calcium Hydroxide [Ca(OH)₂], is produced by adding water to Quick Lime (CaO) in a controlled slaking process. The result is a fine, dry white powder with strong alkaline properties — pH 12.4 in saturated solution.
At Shree Ram Lime & Chemical, we manufacture Hydrated Lime from high-grade limestone sourced from Rajasthan's premium limestone belt in Pipar City, Jodhpur district. Our in-house rotary kilns and slaking units ensure consistent purity, controlled particle size, and low moisture content in every batch.
We supply Hydrated Lime in 6 purity grades — from Standard (70% Ca(OH)₂) to Premium (95% Ca(OH)₂) — to industries across India including water treatment plants, sugar mills, paper & pulp factories, road construction companies, AAC block manufacturers, and chemical processing units.

Industry Applications of Hydrated Lime
Hydrated Lime for Water Treatment Plants
Hydrated Lime is the most widely used chemical for pH adjustment, water softening, and coagulation in municipal and industrial water treatment plants. It precipitates hardness-causing calcium and magnesium ions, neutralises acidic water, and aids in removal of heavy metals. Grade II or Grade III (85–90% Ca(OH)₂) is recommended for water treatment applications.
Hydrated Lime for Sugar Mills
In sugar manufacturing, Hydrated Lime (Chuna) is used in the juice purification process — defecation and carbonation — to remove impurities, colour, and non-sugar substances from raw cane juice. Sugar mills require Grade II (85% Ca(OH)₂) or higher for consistent juice clarification. We supply to sugar mills across Rajasthan, UP, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
Hydrated Lime for Road Construction & Soil Stabilisation
Hydrated Lime is used extensively in road construction for soil stabilisation — improving the load-bearing capacity of weak or expansive soils. It reacts with clay minerals to form cementitious compounds, reducing plasticity and increasing strength. Standard Grade (70%) is commonly used for soil stabilisation applications.
Hydrated Lime for AAC Block Manufacturing
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks require high-purity Hydrated Lime as a key raw material. The lime reacts with silica (fly ash or sand) under steam pressure to form tobermorite — the mineral that gives AAC blocks their strength. Grade III or Premium (90–95% Ca(OH)₂) is required for AAC block production.
Hydrated Lime for Paper & Pulp Industry
Paper mills use Hydrated Lime in the causticizing process to regenerate white liquor from green liquor, in bleaching operations, and for effluent treatment. Grade II (85% Ca(OH)₂) is standard for paper & pulp applications.
Hydrated Lime for Chemical Processing
Hydrated Lime is a key reagent in chemical manufacturing — used for neutralisation of acidic waste streams, precipitation of metal hydroxides, production of calcium-based compounds, and as a raw material in specialty chemical synthesis. Grade III and above (90%+) is preferred for chemical industry use.
Hydrated Lime for Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
Industrial effluent treatment plants use Hydrated Lime to raise pH, precipitate heavy metals (lead, chromium, zinc, copper), and neutralise acidic effluents before discharge. It is cost-effective and widely used in textile, electroplating, tannery, and pharmaceutical ETPs.
Hydrated Lime for Agriculture (Soil pH Correction)
Agricultural lime (Chuna) is applied to acidic soils to raise pH, improve nutrient availability, and enhance crop yield. Hydrated Lime acts faster than agricultural limestone due to its finer particle size and higher reactivity. Standard Grade (70%) is suitable for agricultural use.
